Outstaff Hiring: Remote — Contract (Full-time, Long-term)

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Android / Linux Developer to help build and maintain software running on Android-based devices and Linux environments.

The role focuses on player applications, device communication, remote monitoring, and hardware-related software. You’ll work on distributed systems used to manage connected devices and collaborate closely with backend engineers and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve Android-based player and device applications
• Develop software for Linux environments
• Build solutions for device communication and remote management
• Integrate devices with backend services and monitoring platforms
• Improve system stability, observability, and maintainability
• Troubleshoot issues across distributed device environments
• Work closely with software engineers and technical stakeholders
• Document technical implementations and interfaces

Requirements

• Strong commercial Android development experience
• Experience working with Linux environments
• Experience with device communication or remote device management
• Understanding of distributed device or player environments
• Experience integrating applications with backend APIs
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and operational tooling
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals
• Experience using Git and modern development workflows
• Good written and spoken English

Nice to Have

• Experience in Digital Signage or Media Player platforms
• Experience with embedded or edge-device development
• Experience working with hardware-adjacent software
• Experience with kiosk or locked-down Android devices
• Experience with OTA updates or remote software deployment
• Experience with networking, VPNs, device security, or MDM
• Experience optimizing applications for constrained hardware
• Experience improving player reliability, watchdogs, and offline handling
