Automation QA Engineer

At Flyaps, we are looking for an experienced Python SDET / Quality Automation Engineer to lead the quality automation strategy for one of our key client projects.

About the Project:
The project is a sophisticated, data-heavy SaaS platform focused on urban planning, scenario modeling, and interactive visualization of geospatial data. The product combines complex mathematical models, high-volume spatial data, and a robust backend.

What You’ll Own:

• Design and implement from scratch an automated testing framework spanning data processing, backend services, and critical end-to-end (E2E) user journeys.
• Create representative test datasets and fixtures that cover realistic spatial data anomalies and edge cases.
• Build integration and contract tests for data ingestion, processing pipelines, APIs, and dataset access.
• Test organizational boundaries, multi-tenant permissions, sharing settings, and dataset-version compatibility.
• Establish release checks and smoke tests for customer and demo environments to provide clear evidence of deployment readiness.
• Improve test reliability, optimize execution time, and enhance failure diagnostics and reproducibility.
• Collaboratively introduce stronger engineering practices within a small development team, helping application developers design testable software.

What We’re Looking For:

• 6+ years of experience in test automation, building and maintaining frameworks for production-grade software (Senior / SDET level).
• Strong programming skills in both Python AND TypeScript/JavaScript (you must be comfortable working across both ecosystems).
• Excellent SQL skills with hands-on experience validating complex data transformations and backend behavior.
• Proven experience with API testing, integration testing, browser automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with tools like pytest, Jest/Vitest, and Playwright is highly desirable.
• Ability to investigate complex failures across application code, databases, processing jobs, and infrastructure.
• Excellent spoken and written English (Fluent/Advanced). You will be communicating daily with an international team, so being able to discuss technical architectures and present ideas clearly is a must.
• Good engineering judgment about what to test, at which layer, and how to keep the test suite maintainable as the product evolves.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working with geospatial / GIS data.
• Experience testing data-intensive SaaS products, numerical applications, or multi-tenant architectures.
