Backend Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a curious and motivated Junior Python Engineer to join our team. You'll be building backend services, REST APIs, and data-processing pipelines, with some exposure to cloud infrastructure along the way.

We work in pairs — juniors are always paired with someone at a similar or slightly higher level, not just for code reviews, but for day-to-day coding, architecture decisions, and problem solving. This is production work: you'll ship backend services that customers rely on, with the safety net of another teammate beside you.

The client is US-based, so the team works US business hours; for engineers in Ukraine, this means your working day ends around midnight Kyiv time. This role can be full-time or part-time, depending on your availability.
 

What You'll Work On

• Backend Services & APIs — build and maintain REST APIs and backend services for client platforms.
• Document Processing — build pipelines for validation, extraction, and status tracking.
• AWS Integrations — work with AWS infrastructure managed through Terraform.
• Internal Tooling — build workflow automation and internal tools.

Tech Stack

• Backend — Python (our main language), a web framework (most of our services run on one), SQL or a NoSQL store for reading and writing data.
• Cloud — AWS (Lambda, S3, IAM) and Terraform — both nice-to-haves, you'll pick up what you need on the job.

Working Hours & Format

This role can be full-time or part-time, depending on your availability. It's remote, with occasional face-to-face working sessions. Our client operates on US business hours, so the schedule needs to align with US time zones — for engineers based in Ukraine, your working day will end around midnight Kyiv time.

Requirements

Solid fundamentals in Python, familiarity with a web framework, and a basic understanding of REST APIs.

Exposure to AWS or Terraform is a plus, but not required — you'll pick up what you need on the job. We care more about your curiosity and attitude than your CV.
