Backend Engineer

About the project:

A management platform for climbing gyms and other recreation facilities, covering memberships, billing, check-in, digital waivers, point-of-sale, bookings, and reporting. The project focuses on modernizing an existing C# backend running on AWS Lambda to improve performance, maintainability, and extensibility while preserving existing functionality. The modernization approach involves migrating to a structured .NET application deployed in containers on AWS ECS, improving dependency injection, and refining the code structure.

Talent you’ll bring into our team:

• Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.
• Hands-on experience delivering a migration from a C# backend on AWS Lambda to a .NET application deployed on AWS ECS.
• Practical expertise with AWS Lambda, AWS ECS, and Docker.
• Experience with multi-tenant data architecture and database migration strategies.
• Experience modernizing production applications and resolving backend performance bottlenecks.
• Strong understanding of dependency injection, API design, and separation of concerns.
• Experience preserving existing functionality through automated testing and incremental migration.
• Hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LLMs) for codebase exploration, refactoring, and automated test generation.
• Ability to assess an existing codebase, evaluate technical options, and estimate implementation work.
• English proficiency sufficient to discuss technical findings and recommendations directly with the client.

Responsibilities:

• Modernize the existing C# backend and implement the migration from AWS Lambda to AWS ECS.
• Improve application performance, code structure, and maintainability.
• Apply dependency injection and clear separation of concerns.
• Implement database migrations and support multi-tenant data architecture.
• Preserve existing functionality through automated testing and incremental delivery.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and validate the resulting code.
• Contribute to technical decisions, implementation estimates, code reviews, and documentation.
• Collaborate with the team and discuss technical recommendations directly with the client.
