Backend Engineer

Senior Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

We’re building Halo — a data-heavy platform with AI-powered features. Looking for a strong backend engineer to build and scale the services powering our data-heavy platform.

Requirements

• 5+ years in backend development
• Java / Kotlin, Spring
• PostgreSQL (or other SQL databases)
• ClickHouse or other columnar / analytical databases
• Comfortable working in and extending existing/legacy code
• Experience designing and building APIs
• English B2+

Will be a plus

• Snowflake, Kafka
• Experience with high-volume async data loading and batch processing
• Experience with AI service integrations
• Experience supporting complex data grids / reporting features on the backend (e.g., for AG Grid-style frontends)

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend: async data loading, batch processing, APIs
• Design and maintain services on PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
• Deliver backend support for customer-facing features (dashboards, data grids, search, case views)
• Cover code with tests, keep quality high, minimal regressions
• Work in and refactor parts of an existing/legacy codebase

Working Conditions

• B2B cooperation
• European time zone, schedule 10:00–19:00 or 9:30–18:30
• Equipment provided by the company
• Long-term contract
