Backend Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Rust Backend Engineer to join a US-based fintech startup. The company is building a blockchain-based lending platform that combines transactions on EVM networks with traditional financial operations. The team is small, and each engineer owns their part of the system from design to production.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Rust for loan issuance and repayment processes.
• Integrate with Ethereum and other EVM networks: track on-chain events, submit transactions, handle confirmations and chain reorganizations.
• Build accounting-grade data systems with a full audit trail.
• Reconcile blockchain activity with internal and banking records.
• Work with transaction signing, key management and access control.
• Develop APIs for the platform’s different user types.
• Monitor and support your services in production.

Requirements

• Hands-on blockchain experience (required): building backend systems that interact with Ethereum or other EVM networks (RPC, event indexing, transaction lifecycle, signing, smart-contract integration).
• 7+ years of commercial software development, including 2–3+ years of production Rust.
• Strong async Rust skills and a solid understanding of concurrency and failure scenarios.
• Deep PostgreSQL experience: schema design, migrations, transactional integrity.
• Experience with financial systems where precision matters (payments, ledgers, billing).
• A habit of covering code with tests.
• Good spoken English and comfort communicating directly with a US-based team.

Nice to have

• Ability to read and review Solidity smart contracts.
• Experience with account abstraction / smart wallets.
• Experience building key management and signing infrastructure.
• Basic TypeScript / React.
• Infrastructure as code, self-hosted environments.
• Background in lending, payments or payroll.
