About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Backend AEM Developer (3+ years) to join an enterprise engineering initiative for a major US-based digital entertainment platform. In this role, you will focus on building high-performance server-side services, headless components, and complex system integrations supporting large-scale consumer applications.
We value engineering ownership, practical autonomy, and clear communication. You will work in an environment with high trust and minimal micromanagement, taking direct responsibility for your deliverables from architectural alignment to pre-production validation.
Requirements:
● 3+ years of commercial experience in AEM backend engineering.
● Solid expertise in Java, Apache Sling, OSGi services/configurations, Sling Models, and JCR/Oak.
● Practical background with AEM 6.5+ and familiarity with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS).
● Proven track record of integrating third-party platforms and services via RESTful and SOAP APIs (JSON handling).
● Habit of covering core logic with thorough unit tests using JUnit and Mockito.
● Ability to independently break down requirements, take responsibility for features, and validate stability in pre-production/staging environments before handoff.
● High collaborative standards — aligning on data schemas with peers upfront, actively communicating impediments, and keeping task delivery visible.
● English level: Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher.
Nice to have:
● Adobe Certified Professional/Expert — AEM Developer certification.
● Hands-on experience working with Adobe Cloud Manager and modern CI/CD deployment workflows.
● A solid understanding of HTL/Sightly.
Responsibilities:
● Develop modular OSGi components, custom workflows, and backend services utilizing Java and Apache Sling.
● Coordinate with frontend engineers to establish clean data contracts, exposing structured JSON feeds via optimized Sling Models.
● Connect external enterprise applications, databases, and APIs using REST and SOAP protocols.
● Write maintainable unit tests (JUnit/Mockito) and verify application functionality in staging environments to ensure high deliverable quality.
● Diagnose and debug performance bottlenecks or runtime errors across local and hosted server tiers using application logs and OSGi management consoles.
● Perform self-reviews, watch for anomalies in server logs, and raise technical risks early to protect the long-term health of the codebase.
