This position is a direct contract with a leading UK company.
The Company builds B2B legal technology that helps law firms deliver faster, higher-quality work. The Company’s platform streamlines legal workflows involved in a niche area of law so lawyers can accelerate drafting, negotiation, and compliance at scale.
Tech highlights — we operate a single-tenant SaaS architecture hosted on AWS across multiple regions, built with a modern stack: Python/Django 6, React 18/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch/ OpenSearch, S3, ECS, and Lambda.
Our teams work in Agile Scrum squads, supported by strong CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/Terragrunt), and security-first practices (SOPS, KMS). It’s only a web application, no mobile.

About You
- 10+ years of experience in software development, preferably in SaaS environments.
- Strong expertise in Python (3.10+), Django (4.x), and Django REST Framework with solid REST API development experience.
- Strong system design and software architecture skills with experience building scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems on AWS.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure, including ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and RDS.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Celery, and messaging systems such as SQS/SNS.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum environments, and modern development best practices.
- Ability to define and drive technical direction, take ownership of end-to-end delivery, and support platform reliability.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Experience mentoring engineers, promoting high engineering standards, and supporting team growth through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance technical quality, business needs, and fast-changing priorities in a growing environment.
It would be cool if you also have
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform/Terragrunt and AWS developer tooling.
- Knowledge of authentication frameworks, role-based access control, and multi-tenant architecture/design patterns.
- Understanding of testing frameworks, linting, and pre-commit workflows (pytest, Ruff, etc.).
- A pragmatic engineering mindset with a focus on reliability and clean architecture.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional Agile teams.
- A proactive approach to improving codebases and developer experience.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when solving problems.
- Experience with text/document processing libraries such as pdfplumber, PyPDF2, or docxtpl.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Sentry, Prometheus) as well as secure key management solutions (KMS, SOPS).
Your tasks will mainly be
- Design and implement RESTful APIs using Python 3.10+ and Django 4.x / Django REST Framework.- Build background workers and asynchronous tasks using Celery, SQS, and Lambda.- Write unit, integration, and API tests (pytest, factory_boy, coverage).- Collaborate with DevOps to improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, scalability planning, and performance optimization.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain clean, secure, and well-documented services.
- Integrate AWS services (S3, SNS/SQS, CloudFront, ECS, RDS) into application workflows.
- Develop scalable data models and queries with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
