Backend Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong backend engineering expertise to help modernize and evolve a large-scale business-critical platform.

You will work on improving existing systems, designing scalable backend services, and introducing modern engineering practices with an AI-first development approach. This role requires someone who can take ownership of technical challenges, navigate complex codebases, and deliver maintainable, high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

— Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and system integrations.

— Contribute to the modernization and evolution of existing legacy systems.

— Improve software architecture, code quality, performance, and maintainability.

— Design clean service boundaries and scalable backend solutions.

— Work with complex business logic and established software systems.

— Leverage AI-powered development tools and agents to improve engineering productivity.

— Review and validate AI-generated code, ensuring quality, security, and architectural consistency.

— Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

— Take ownership of engineering tasks from problem analysis through implementation and delivery.

Key Requirements:

— Several years of professional software engineering experience, with strong C#/.NET backend development expertise.

— Proficiency in a modern programming language and ecosystem (C#/.NET experience is a strong advantage).

— Experience designing and developing APIs, backend services, and integration-oriented systems.

— Strong understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and maintainable system design.

— Experience working with existing, complex, or legacy software systems.

— Proven ability to modernize and refactor existing applications incrementally.

— Practical experience using AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar.

— Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and maintain high engineering standards.

— Strong problem-solving skills and an ownership-driven mindset.

— Good communication and collaboration skills, at least Upper-Intermediate English level

Nice to Have:

— Experience with microservices and distributed systems.

— Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerized environments.

— Experience with asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures.

— Familiarity with legacy modernization patterns, such as the Strangler Fig Pattern.

— Experience building or improving internal developer platforms and engineering workflows.

— Experience in payroll, HR, or other business-critical enterprise systems.
