Backend Engineer

We’re seeking a hands-on Python Team Lead to help shape a cloud-native cybersecurity product used by enterprise teams. You’ll lead five engineers while remaining closely involved in system design, high-impact backend work, troubleshooting, and key technical decisions.

The platform turns large, complex security datasets into actionable insight, using analytics and AI to help customers understand risk, identify threats, and prioritize what matters most.

What you’ll do

• Lead, mentor, and support a senior engineering team of five.
• Own end-to-end delivery of complex backend features, from technical design to reliable production releases.
• Partner with Product to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Guide architecture, code quality, debugging, performance optimization, and technical roadmap decisions.
• Establish practical engineering KPIs and use them to improve delivery predictability and team performance.
• Help shape effective AI-assisted development workflows across the team.

Your technical environment

Python, AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, asynchronous messaging, and data-intensive backend services.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a hands-on team-lead role.
• Strong Python backend experience and a track record of delivering complex systems end to end.
• Production experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, asynchronous or message-based systems, and scalable cloud-native architectures.
• A thoughtful leadership style, with experience mentoring engineers and removing delivery bottlenecks.
• Confidence using engineering metrics to improve planning, quality, and team effectiveness.
• Practical experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor; familiarity with MCP integrations, custom instructions, or agent workflows is a plus.
