Backend Engineer
Remote from Ukraine | independent contractor | part-time about 20 hours a week, or full-time
What we do
Inite connects the systems a business runs on: the online store, the ERP, the warehouse, the accounting. Our customers are operators in New Zealand and Australia: multi-brand retailers, food manufacturers, wholesalers.
What you would build
— New integration flows and changes to existing ones, from a written spec: sales orders, fulfilment, returns and refunds, purchase orders and receipts, inventory sync, item and customer master data.
— Clients for third-party APIs
How the work runs
— Everything lives in GitHub.
— Every flow has a written spec and a plain-English walkthrough of the code, so you start from documents rather than guesswork.
— Hours are flexible. We ask for about one hour of overlap in your morning, which is our evening in New Zealand, for a call or a chat when one is needed.
— Code, documentation and the customer chat are in English.
What we are looking for
— Five or more years writing TypeScript on Node.js in production.
— Experience building against other people’s APIs: authentication, pagination, rate limits, partial failures, and the retries that go with them.
— A habit of thinking about idempotency and state: what happens if this step runs twice, or the process dies halfway through.
— Tests as a normal part of finishing a piece of work.
— Written English good enough to read a spec, describe a pull request and ask a clear question.
Nice to have
— Restate, Temporal or any other durable execution or workflow engine. We will teach you Restate; the way of thinking transfers.
— Cloudflare Workers.
— Shopify Admin API, Business Central or another ERP, a WMS or a 3PL API.
— SOAP and XML, Zod.
— E-commerce, retail or logistics as a domain.
Not needed: front-end work, or knowledge of the New Zealand market.
Terms
— Independent contractor agreement with Inite Limited (New Zealand), usually through your private entrepreneur registration (ФОП).
— Part-time from about 20 hours a week, or full-time. Tell us which you want.
