Senior · Full-time · Remote — EST (US East Coast) hours · Customer-facing

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to own enterprise-scale Power BI reporting end-to-end — from requirements gathering and data modeling through implementation, performance optimization, and production support.

You will join a US corporate customer’s team of 3–4 software engineers (no other BI specialists) as the sole owner of the entire Power BI track: Power BI, DAX, Databricks, SQL querying, and data mining in the customer’s data sources, plus ETL/ELT scripts ingesting data from various sources — Excel, CSV, and zipped data of various formats.

The role may include certain customer-facing functions: you will participate in customer sync-up calls during US business hours (EST), so confident spoken English is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the entire Power BI track within the customer’s engineering team: semantic models, reports, and the data pipelines behind them;

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI semantic models and reports; optimize DAX, Power Query (M), and model structures for high performance on large datasets; configure incremental refresh and row-level security (RLS);

• Query and mine data on the customer’s data sources: Databricks, SQL databases;

• Develop ETL/ELT scripts ingesting data from heterogeneous sources: Excel, CSV, zipped data of various formats;

• Test ETL processes and collaborate with the customer’s software engineers on data availability and quality;

• Participate in customer sync-up calls (US time, EST); gather requirements directly from business stakeholders and translate them into actionable insights.

MUST-HAVE

• 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development: semantic models, DAX, Power Query (M);

• Proven experience with large datasets (100M+ rows): performance tuning, incremental refresh, RLS;

• Strong SQL (MS SQL required; PostgreSQL or SAP HANA SQL is a plus) — querying/mining data across sources, writing views, understanding ETL and data quality;

• ETL/ELT scripting from heterogeneous file sources: Excel, CSV, archived/zipped data;

• Databricks hands-on — or solid experience with a comparable lakehouse platform (Microsoft Fabric, Spark SQL) and readiness to pick Databricks up quickly;

• End-to-end ownership of reporting infrastructure; able to operate as the sole BI specialist on a team;

• Confident spoken English (Advanced / Fluent) — customer-facing role with regular calls with US stakeholders;

• EST-aligned schedule: readiness to work US East Coast hours and attend US-time sync-up calls.

NICE TO HAVE

• Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Notebooks); experience migrating semantic models to Fabric;

• Power Apps and Power Automate (Power Platform beyond Power BI);

• Azure data services: Azure SQL, Azure Analysis Services;

• Other BI tools: Tableau, Qlik Sense;

• ServiceNow Reporting / Performance Analytics; familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident / Problem / Change management);

• Using AI tools to accelerate modeling and development;

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
