Data Engineer

We are looking for a talented Middle-strong to Senior Data Engineer to join our Center of Excellence (CoE) team and help us establish and continuously strengthen Data Engineering expertise across the company.

A Center of Excellence (CoE) is a team of senior technical experts who research strategic technology trends, maintain high engineering standards, foster professional development, and provide expert consulting throughout the software development lifecycle. The CoE helps our clients run Product Discovery phases, build prototypes, validate product concepts, and design scalable technical solutions — providing High-Level Architecture, recommended technology stacks, technical designs, implementation approaches, time and cost estimates, consulting, and Work Breakdown Structures.

This role is ideal for a professional capable of analyzing business and technical requirements, designing reliable data architectures, building data pipelines and platforms, and proposing pragmatic solutions for processing, storing, integrating, and utilizing data.

Department: CoE Engineering. Involvement: Part-time. Location: Remote, Ukraine or abroad.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have:

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or in a similar role
• Strong practical experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Strong programming skills in Python or another language commonly used for data processing
• Experience working with data warehouses and/or data lakes
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Experience with data orchestration tools
• Experience working with large datasets and distributed data
• Understanding of batch and streaming data processing approaches
• Understanding of data modelling principles for analytical systems
• Experience with data quality validation, monitoring, and observability
• Understanding of security, data privacy, access control, and governance concepts
• Experience integrating multiple heterogeneous data sources and APIs
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Upper-Intermediate spoken and written English
• Business-oriented mindset and ability to understand the real goals and constraints of the client
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
• Ability to work effectively with incomplete or ambiguous requirements
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to document solutions and share knowledge effectively
• Ability to independently research unfamiliar technologies and problem domains

Nice to have:

• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar platforms
• Experience with transformation frameworks
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK
• Experience with BI and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or alternatives
• Experience designing data platforms for AI/ML and Generative AI use cases
• Experience with vector databases, embedding pipelines, or data preparation for LLM/RAG systems
• Experience in backend or general software development
• Background in Data Science, Data Analytics, or Machine Learning

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and data processing solutions
• Designing data architectures for analytical, operational, and AI/ML use cases
• Providing technical consulting for new and existing clients
• Participating in pre-sales activities and presenting Data Engineering expertise to clients
• Developing technical proposals and solution architectures
• Building prototypes and Proofs of Concept for data-driven systems
• Participating in discovery phases, technical research, idea generation, and solution validation
• Assessing existing data platforms and proposing improvements or modernization strategies
• Designing integrations between multiple data sources and external systems
• Documenting technical solutions and sharing knowledge with engineering teams

PROJECT

Customer: As a CoE specialist, you will work across multiple client engagements rather than one fixed project — assignments are assigned based on active discovery phases and consulting needs.

Type: Varies by engagement — may span SaaS, fintech, e-commerce, or other data-driven products depending on the client.

Stage: CoE work spans engagements at different stages, from early discovery to prototyping and ongoing delivery support.

Technical stack: Python (or similar), SQL, ETL/ELT tools, data warehouses and data lakes, AWS / Google Cloud / Azure, data orchestration tools; optionally Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Terraform/AWS CDK, Power BI/Tableau/Looker.

Work schedule: Part-time, fully remote (Ukraine or abroad).
