Data Engineer

Role overview

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is an expert network that provides consulting services to businesses over the phone and in person at conferences, teleconferences, custom events, and workshops.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a BI Developer or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience working with large volumes of data and implementing data warehousing projects.
• Basic knowledge of Spark and Python.
• Knowledge of BI tools such as PowerBI (preferable), Tableau, etc.
• Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines.
• Familiarity with compliance-based environments and experience in building compliant software solutions.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational/NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with various database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Cosmos).
• Experience Azure Databricks and Delta Lake.
• Solid understanding of data engineering concepts.
• The ability to recommend and explain business models, business needs, data flows, and data architecture.
• Understanding of how to optimize data flow and visualization. The ability to describe the source of the data.
• The ability to explain why certain tech decisions are made from a business perspective.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with business stakeholders in converting requirements into solutions.
• Upper-intermediate level of English.
• Bachelor’s Degree.

Nice to have

• Experience with DBT is a huge plus, and even a desire to learn it is beneficial.
• Experience with Fivetran.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and build solutions that derive insights from data.
• Exhibit knowledge of SQL to effectively manage and manipulate data.
• Utilize expertise in data warehousing concepts to work with large volumes of data to perform analysis and provide recommendations to enable data-driven decision-making.
• Build and optimize data pipelines on Azure Databricks, leveraging in-depth knowledge of data engineering, data warehousing, and Delta Lake on Databricks.
• Manage and maintain data in the lakehouse medallion architecture.
• Build BI dashboards using tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Utilize advanced SQL knowledge to work with relational and NoSQL databases, and database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Cosmos).
• Design and implement robust data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and deploy compliant software solutions in a compliance-based environment.
