DevOps Engineer
We’re opening the position of a DevOps Engineer to work on a project of our Customer — an international company that develops software solutions for small and mid-sized municipalities. The project focuses on a product suite that supports key local government operations, including finance, utility billing, HR, payroll, online payments, tax collection, and asset management.
For one of the directions, you’ll own and execute Production deployments — being the one “pushing the button” to release to Production, working directly with Engineering teams to bring proper process and structure to how releases happen.
The role will support on-premises virtual machines located in a colocation environment, as well as management of our current Azure environment. In the near future, the team will begin planning the move of the colocation environment to Azure. The goal of the role is day-to-day maintenance, reliability/performance, as well as taking over deployment activities from Development Engineers and working with existing SREs developing a proper deployment process for the on-premises environment. A mix of Azure and on-premises SRE/DevOps proficiency will be the best fit for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Help establish process rigor and enforce a proper SRE/DevOps deployment model where one doesn’t currently exist
- Remove/replace ad-hoc Production access currently held by Software Engineers or other unauthorized roles
- Embed directly with the Engineering Team to understand what’s coming down the pipeline and how features are being developed, so deployment decisions are well-informed
- Work within an on-premises / local environment (not Azure) — manage deployments and infrastructure specific to that setup
- Manage GitHub access and repository oversight (environment has ~31 repos) — currently handled ad hoc, transitioning to the new SRE Team
- Manage JIira/Confluence space access and permissions (requires space-owner-level provisioning, to be coordinated with the team)
- Help formally integrate the environment into company’s broader SRE org, since it hasn’t been integrated before
- Support a fast ramp-up — you will be expected to start engaging with the environment quickly once access/procedures are in place
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in supporting cloud-native applications/infrastructure in Azure (VNets, Resource Groups, App Services, Functions, Azure VM, NSGs, RBAC)
- Knowledge in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Desired State Configuration, Blueprints)
- PowerShell scripting and automation skills
- Expertise in CI/CD tooling, including Azure DevOps, TeamCity, and GitHub Actions
- Knowledge of Git or similar source control systems
- “AZ-104: Manage Identities and Governance in Azure” certification
- Ability to work with Windows & Linux server administration, LAN network design, and Entra ID
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally or work independently as a self-starter/mentor
- Skills in creating clear technical documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- English level — Upper-Intermediate or higher
