DevOps Engineer

We’re looking for someone to take full ownership of our production infrastructure, cloud setup, deployments, CI/CD, and operational reliability — in a fast-moving startup that builds and ships quickly. The role can start as a part-time or trial engagement to validate collaboration, then grow into a full-time monthly retainer. The ideal candidate is highly independent, proactive, and comfortable jumping into an evolving system without expecting perfectly structured onboarding from day one.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Owning and supporting cloud infrastructure across multiple environments;
• Leading ongoing cloud migrations and cloud setup improvements;
• Working with GCP, AWS, and potentially Alibaba Cloud for Asian customers;
• Supporting infrastructure distributed by customer location and latency needs;
• Working with containerized models and services deployed in the cloud;
• Supporting production systems on Cloud Run, virtual instances, and similar infrastructure;
• Building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines;
• Implementing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code, preferably using Terraform;
• Keeping infrastructure cloud-agnostic where possible and avoiding unnecessary vendor lock-in;
• Supporting observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting practices;
• Reacting to production issues, cluster failures, customer requests, or urgent infrastructure situations;
• Helping create more structure around engineering workflows, tasks, and documentation;
• Collaborating with the CTO, technical team, and product / business stakeholders;
• Working in an environment where AI tools and agents are part of the development process.

What we expect from you:

• Strong experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, SRE, or similar role;
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure in production;
• Strong practical experience with at least one major cloud platform — GCP, AWS, or similar;
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, ideally Terraform;
• Experience with CI/CD setup and automation;
• Good understanding of containers, deployments, cloud networking, and production reliability;
• Ability to debug infrastructure issues independently;
• Ability to work with limited documentation and quickly understand existing systems;
• Strong ownership mindset — doesn’t wait for every task to be fully specified;
• Clear communication and ability to raise blockers early;
• Experience with distributed systems or multi-region / multi-cloud deployments is a strong plus;
• Experience with Alibaba Cloud or infrastructure setup for Asian markets is a plus;
• Experience working with AI / ML infrastructure or model deployment is a plus;
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows — Claude, Cursor, or similar tools is a plus.
