An international defense-tech company that designs and manufactures unmanned systems is looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to join its Ukrainian office and lead the development of a technical direction. The role involves more than software development: it gives you direct influence on technical decisions, from flight controller firmware to partner integrations. The Senior Embedded Engineer will be responsible for developing the product's technical capabilities and for defining the architecture and priorities of the direction.
Responsibilities
- Develop new technical capabilities for the product across three areas:
- Airside: firmware development for flight controller microcontrollers and supporting electronics, including flight control and radio link code
- Groundside: ground station software development; receiving, processing, and displaying the video stream from the UAV
- Autonomy: development of navigation, GNSS, orientation, and positioning solutions
- Diagnose and resolve issues at the intersection of hardware and firmware
- Contribute to technical requirements, including feasibility assessment, reviews, and solution architecture
- Create test cases, review test plans, and execute testing
- Prototype solutions and bring them to a stable, production-ready state
- Define technical decisions and priorities within your area
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial experience in embedded development in MilTech or related fields: robotics, aerospace, automotive, or industrial electronics
- Knowledge of the UAV ecosystem: Betaflight, ExpressLRS, PX4, ArduPilot, OpenTX
- Strong knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems and experience developing in bare-metal or RTOS environments
- Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet protocols
- Experience in system design of embedded and distributed systems and in hardware/software integration
- Experience with computer vision or video processing projects
- English at B2 (Upper-Intermediate) level or higher
