ABOUT THE ROLE
OM Motors develops high-efficiency BLDC motors for heavy-lift industrial multirotor platforms. We are looking for an engineer with deep expertise in electromagnetic design, capable of independently managing the full development cycle — from motor-to-propeller system matching through to series production. Team working language is English.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Motor-to-propeller system matching: KV selection, operating point calculation, topology and slot/pole scheme
- FEA model development and verification (Maxwell, JMAG, FEMM, MotorCAD)
- Winding design: wire cross-section, fill factor, R_phase, L_d/L_q, Litz wire for high electrical frequencies
- Thermal analysis: LPTN models, cooling strategy selection, insulation class verification
- PWM harmonic loss analysis, cogging torque optimisation
- Dynamometer testing: back-EMF characterisation, efficiency mapping, thermal run
- Production support and supplier management
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of BLDC / PMSM design experience
- Hands-on experience with FEA tools: Maxwell, JMAG or FEMM
- Knowledge of winding factor, Bertotti loss model, demagnetisation analysis
- EM design of outrunner SPM/IPM topologies, field weakening, CPSR
- Python or MATLAB for calculation automation
- Familiarity with IEC 60034, IEC 60085, IP55
- Fluent English (working language)
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with UAV / drone motors
- MotorCAD, CFD, multi-objective optimisation (NSGA-II)
- Experience with axial flux machines (AFPM)
- Experience working with Chinese manufacturers
