Role Overview

You join a European distributed team of engineers who build HopHop, a communication stack for the DECT NR+ technology (a mid-range radio standard built for reliable large-scale IoT-style device deployments). Our starting point is Ariel OS, a free operating system for IoT devices written in Rust. Together, we speed up development, building from simple transmitter and receiver demos up to supporting network traffic and low-latency audio communication.

Key Responsibilities

You will be assigned specific tasks to work through independently, coordinating with others in the team as necessary, and join in discussion of future steps.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Rust and its ecosystem (crates).
  • Any experience developing network applications.
  • Experience with Rust’s no_std or embedded systems development (e.g. C on microcontrollers).
  • Experience collaborating on open-source projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IPv6 configuration (DHCPv6, NDP / -proxying, Prefix Delegation).
  • Experience with YANG (as NETCONF, RESTCONF or CORECONF).
  • Familiarity with a Rust web framework for PWAs (e.g. Leptos or Yew).

Skills and Competencies

  • Fluent written English and sufficient spoken English for team discussions.
  • Balancing between “I’ll read up on it” and “I’ll ask the team”
  • Working on a publicly developed project. Issues, pull requests and code reviews take place on a public issue tracker. You may use your main or a pseudonymous account.

What We Offer

  • Work on an open-source Rust project with a European engineering team.
  • A fast-paced, results-oriented culture where decisions are guided by data.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • All necessary equipment, including a computer and development boards.
  • A workspace at our Lviv office.
