Engineering Manager
Our client is a Switzerland-based consulting company that helps businesses make better growth decisions. Its team builds business concepts and forecasts of how changes in the market or in operations will affect a company, and delivers this work through its own software products.
The client is now consolidating four existing products into a single product suite built natively on AWS. Engineering is AI-first and spec-driven: specifications are committed to a requirements repository, and code is generated with Claude Code as much as possible, then reviewed, tested and released through a CI/CD pipeline. The platform is designed to be portable to Azure and deployable into a customer’s own cloud environment. The core team is small, with plans to scale as the product and client base grow.
Location: Remote, EU or Ukraine (working hours overlapping with CET)
Engagement: Full-time, long-term
Start: December 2026
English: C1 or higher
Description
This is the senior technical role in the client’s engineering team. You will own the architecture of the new product suite, lead a small hands-on team, and represent engineering in front of the client’s leadership and, over time, the client’s own customers. The role is hands-on: you set the direction, but you also review specifications and code and step in when needed.
Responsibilities
- Own the target architecture of the unified product suite on AWS (Bedrock, AgentCore, Cognito, SES and related services) and keep it portable to Azure.
- Lead the consolidation of four existing products into one suite: define the migration path, sequencing and key technical decisions.
- Shape the spec-driven development model: how specifications are written and structured, how they are turned into code with Claude Code, and how the output is reviewed and tested.
- Set engineering standards and guardrails for AI-assisted development; review specifications, generated code and infrastructure changes.
- Lead the engineering team (Technical Project Manager, AI / Cloud Engineer, and further engineers as the team grows): technical direction, priorities and mentoring.
- Work with the client’s leadership on roadmap trade-offs from an architecture and cost perspective.
- Take part in client-facing work: solutioning workshops, presales, technical proposals and architecture presentations.
- Build security and compliance into the architecture: least-privilege access, tenant isolation, deployment into customer environments, ISO/IEC 27001 and Swiss FADP / GDPR requirements.
- Take over from the current interim engineering manager and make sure nothing is lost in the handover.
Requirements
- 5+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years as a solution architect, technical lead or engineering manager.
- Deep, hands-on AWS experience designing and running production systems: IAM, networking, serverless and container workloads.
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Practical experience building generative AI applications (preferably on AWS Bedrock): agents, tool use, RAG, model selection, evaluation and cost control.
- Strong Python and/or Node.js / TypeScript; able to read and review React code.
- Regular use of AI coding tools (Claude Code or similar) in a team setting, with a clear view of how to keep quality under control.
- Experience consolidating or re-platforming existing products.
- Fluent English: clear communicator who can explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and is comfortable in client-facing meetings.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS Bedrock AgentCore.
- Azure experience, or experience building cloud-portable platforms.
- Work in an ISO/IEC 27001 or SOC 2 environment.
- Background in consulting or professional services, including presales.
- Multi-tenant SaaS, analytics or forecasting products.
