ARX Robotics is building autonomous ground systems that are already in use by military forces. As our Engineering Director for Ukraine region, you will be the person who shapes how we build — and who we become as an engineering organisation.
This is a rare opportunity to lead at the intersection of deep technology and real-world defense operations. You will set the technical direction for your region, build the teams that execute it, and ensure that what we ship in the field meets the highest bar for reliability, safety, and mission impact. Key Responsibilities:
- A regional technical strategy that spans robotics, AI/ML, computer vision, embedded systems, controls, electronics, and mechanical integration — and the engineering culture to execute it.
- Engineering roadmaps that connect company strategy directly to customer missions, with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.
- High-performing, multidisciplinary teams — recruited, developed, and retained in competitive talent markets.
- A pipeline of future technical leaders, through hands-on mentorship, coaching, and deliberate growth opportunities.
- End-to-end delivery of regional engineering programs, from early R&D through field deployment and production readiness.
- Robust program governance: budget management, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and compliance with defense standards, cybersecurity protocols, and export controls.
- Strong external relationships with defense partners, government stakeholders, and suppliers — representing ARX as a credible, visible leader in the regional defense robotics ecosystem.
- A bridge between local execution and global engineering practices, keeping the region aligned with ARX’s long-term direction.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in robotics, defense systems, or advanced engineering — with a track record that includes shipping production-grade, mission-critical systems.
- 5+ years leading senior engineering teams at Director, VP, or equivalent level, with the scars and lessons that come with it.
- Deep technical grounding in at least one core area: autonomy, teleoperation, AI/ML, embedded systems, or mechatronics — enough to earn the respect of the engineers you lead.
- Strong systems engineering instincts and experience running complex, multidisciplinary programs from concept to delivery.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, allocate resources, and communicate clearly with executive leadership.
- Comfort navigating defense compliance environments — standards, cybersecurity requirements, and export controls are familiar territory for you.
- Fluent English and the ability to engage credibly with stakeholders at every level, from engineering leads to government partners.
- Familiarity with MoD, DoD, NATO or equivalent defense organisations, procurement processes, or security clearance frameworks is a strong advantage.
- An advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Robotics, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent depth of practical experience.
