- Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to the design of scalable and maintainable systems.
- Build and optimize APIs, business logic, and integrations with third-party services and internal microservices.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases, design data models, optimize SQL queries, and improve database performance.
- Develop and maintain background processing and asynchronous workflows.
- Maintain and improve frontend components delivered through Rails views, layouts, and partials.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and improve application reliability and scalability.
- Write and maintain automated tests, ensuring code quality and system stability.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
- Take ownership of complex technical tasks and deliver solutions with minimal supervision.
- Proactively identify technical risks, suggest improvements, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and QA specialists in a distributed team.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of commercial software development experience, with strong hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails.
- Strong knowledge of Ruby and the Rails ecosystem.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
- Experience designing scalable applications, APIs, and distributed backend systems.
- Strong database skills, particularly with PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with background jobs and asynchronous processing.
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs and third-party service integrations.
- Experience writing automated tests, preferably using RSpec.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
- Ability to work with existing codebases, identify architectural issues, and improve code quality.
- Ability to independently analyze complex requirements, evaluate technical approaches, and make sound engineering decisions.
- Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good English communication skills for working with international clients and distributed teams.
Will Be a Plus
