PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for a Lead engineer to join the early-stage startup in sales area.

STAGE

MVP.

TEAM

co-founders.

STACK:

• Node.js (main language), React
• MongoDB / NoSQL (current database)
• SQL (target database; exact engine TBC)
• ORM / framework, cloud and CI/CD: TBC

Requirements:

• 7+ years delivering production web applications and leading technical decisions.
• Strong experience with Node.js/Express, React, MongoDB, SQL, CI/CD, cloud, and architecture.
• Experience with customer-facing SaaS platforms, technical leadership, and engineering process ownership.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Excellence & SDLC

• Own and evolve the Engineering SOP, including branching, PR workflow, documentation, CI/CD, release management, and operational readiness.
• Drive industry best practices, including automated testing, infrastructure as code, DevSecOps, code quality standards, and observability.
• Own release cadence, hotfix processes, engineering metrics, and continuous improvement.

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Make architecture and implementation decisions across Express, React/Vite, Python services, databases, cloud infrastructure, and integrations.
• Own MongoDB-to-SQL migration strategy, schema governance, sequencing, and delivery planning.
• Define technical standards, design patterns, ADRs, and platform roadmaps.

Product Development Leadership

• Partner with Product and Business leaders to turn customer requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead technical discovery, estimation, tradeoff analysis, and roadmap planning.
• Balance feature delivery, technical debt, security, reliability, and maintainability.

Customer & Stakeholder Leadership

• Represent Engineering in customer meetings, architecture reviews, security assessments, and escalations.
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, delivery plans, and platform capabilities to customers and executives.
• Support enterprise onboarding, audits, due diligence, and compliance reviews.

Reliability, Security & Operations

• Own production readiness, observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and RCA processes.
• Champion secure coding, vulnerability management, access controls, secrets management, and OWASP-aligned practices.
• Ensure platform scalability, resilience, performance, and operational excellence.

People Leadership

• Mentor engineers, assign work, conduct reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. (Lead a team of ~ 4 junior engineers)
