Your responsibilities
Development

  • Own the electronics architecture of the device: processor platform, power supply, sensing, actuation, display, connectivity.
  • Circuit design and PCB layout, from concept through to release
  • Analogue measurement chains for pressure, temperature and flow sensing — low noise, low drift, calibratable.
  • Drive electronics for pumps, valves, heating and cooling elements, including the power stages.
  • Build, bring-up and characterisation of prototypes.
  • Safety and evidence.
  • Electrical safety concept under IEC 60601-1: insulation coordination, creepage and clearance distances, protective earth, single-fault safety.
  • EMC-compliant design under IEC 60601-1-2, pre-compliance measurements and support through certification testing.
  • Design of an independent hardware protection layer: watchdog, interlocks, pressure and temperature limiting.
  • Contribute to risk management under ISO 14971; derive and verify hardware risk control measures.
  • Design verification: test planning, execution and documentation as part of the technical file

     

Production readiness

  • Design for reprocessing: connectors, sealing concepts and resistance to cleaning and disinfecting agents across the specified service life.
  • Design for manufacturing and test: test strategy, production programming, test fixtures.
  • Component qualification, second sources, long-term availability and obsolescence management.
  • Work with EMS providers, prototype builds and production ramp-up
     

Collaboration

  • Work closely with embedded software: platform decisions are made together, not one after the other.
  • Interface with mechanical engineering, systems engineering, regulatory affairs and manufacturin.

 

 

Required

  • Several years in electronics development for complex embedded devices, from schematic to finished layout (7+ as a guide).
  • IEC 60601-1 or an equivalent product safety standard (e.g. IEC 61010) — insulation concepts, creepage and clearance, single fault analysis are routine for you, not new ground.
  • Solid practice in analogue measurement: sensor front-ends, ADC interfacing, noise, offset and drift, calibration concepts.
  • EMC-compliant design in practice — including the experience of analysing and fixing a failed EMC test.
  • Confident with a professional EDA tool (Altium, KiCad, Cadence or comparable).
  • Lab measurement skills: oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, network analyser, thermography
  • Fluent German and English
     

Nice to have

  • Medical devices and the associated documentation (design history file, design verification).
  • Further parts of the 60601 series, in particular -1-2 (EMC), -1-6 (usability) and -1-8 (alarm systems)
  • Mains-side power electronics, switch-mode supplies, isolation barriers, motor drive.
  • Signal and power integrity on fast interfaces (DDR, LVDS, Ethernet).
  • Modern 32-bit microcontroller platforms and the circuitry around them.
  • Thermal design and simulation.
  • Experience setting technical direction across distributed or partner teams.
