Senior Roku Engineer — remote, Ukraine
On behalf of our customer, a global video-streaming solutions company that builds apps for major broadcasters and media brands, we are looking for 2–3 Senior Roku Engineers.
You will build and maintain Roku channels used by millions of viewers, from new features through Roku certification and OS updates. We consider two profiles: experienced Roku engineers, and senior TV front-end engineers ready to move onto Roku.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain Roku applications in BrightScript and SceneGraph.
- Integrate video playback with DRM, online video platforms, advertising and analytics.
- Own the app’s supporting setup: build pipelines, automated tests and related AWS services.
- Follow new Roku OS releases, adapt existing apps and take them through Roku certification.
- Review code, improve app architecture and support less experienced engineers.
Profile A — Roku engineer
- 5+ years in software development, including 3+ years on Roku.
- Strong BrightScript and Roku SceneGraph XML.
- At least one Roku channel shipped to production and through certification.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and SDKs (player, ads, analytics).
Profile B — TV front-end engineer moving to Roku
- 5+ years in front-end development, including 2+ years on big-screen platforms: Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Lightning JS, React-based TV apps or Android TV.
- Hands-on video player work (HLS/DASH, DRM, ads).
- Any BrightScript experience is a strong plus; you are ready to become productive on Roku within a few weeks.
Nice to have
- Roku Advertising Framework (RAF) or server-side ad insertion.
- Unit testing for Roku (e.g. Rooibos) and BrighterScript tooling.
- CI/CD for TV apps; experience with other TV platforms.
Terms
- Time & materials subconsultancy: you contract with our company as a private entrepreneur (ФОП).
- Paid only for hours actually worked, at an agreed hourly rate; no paid vacation or sick leave.
- Full-time (about 40 hours a week), long-term, fully remote from Ukraine.
- Daily work in the customer’s international team: English B2 or higher
