We are looking for a Manual + Automation QA Engineer to join our team and help ensure the reliability of our payment gateway.
Our product processes payments and payouts through multiple provider integrations. The system involves asynchronous transaction flows, callbacks, webhooks, and complex payment states, so we need someone who understands how payment systems work and can independently identify potential risks.
This role is primarily focused on backend and API testing, with an opportunity to expand and improve test automation.
Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end testing of payment and payout flows, from API requests to final transaction states and balance updates.
- Test REST APIs, webhooks, callbacks, authentication, request signatures, and idempotency.
- Validate asynchronous processes, retries, error handling, and provider integration scenarios.
- Write and maintain automated API tests to improve regression coverage and reduce repetitive manual testing.
- Work with SQL to verify transaction data, balances, and data consistency.
- Investigate defects using server logs, database queries, and monitoring tools.
- Design test scenarios, checklists, and regression suites, covering positive, negative, boundary, and edge cases.
- Perform smoke and regression testing before and after releases.
- Collaborate closely with developers to identify issues early and ensure product quality.
- Maintain test documentation and report defects clearly in Jira.
Requirements
- 2+ years of QA experience, including substantial hands-on experience in manual testing and API testing.
- Practical experience in FinTech, preferably with payment gateways, PSPs, acquiring, issuing, wallets, payouts, or other transaction-based products.
- Strong experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Apidog, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests, preferably for APIs.
- Confident SQL skills, including JOINs and aggregations, with the ability to validate transactional data and investigate discrepancies.
- Solid understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication tokens, and request signatures.
- Experience testing asynchronous workflows, webhooks, callbacks, retries, and transaction state transitions.
- Strong test design skills and the ability to identify edge cases without relying on detailed specifications.
- Experience working with Jira and Git; familiarity with Confluence or other test documentation tools.
- Ability to investigate issues independently using logs and database queries.
- English sufficient for reading technical documentation and communicating technical issues.
Nice to have
- Experience with payment provider integrations, 3DS, settlement reconciliation, and payment routing.
- Experience with PHP-based backend systems or the ability to read PHP code.
- Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or PHP for test automation.
- Experience running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Grafana, Kibana, Datadog, or Sentry.
- Experience with provider mocks, emulators, and API security testing.
What we offer
- Remote work with a flexible schedule.
- Competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth.
- 24 calendar days of paid annual leave.
- 10 paid sick days per year.
- Compensation for professional training and development.
- The opportunity to work on a real FinTech product with complex payment flows and multiple provider integrations.
- A role combining hands-on manual testing with practical test automation.
- Close collaboration with the development team and the opportunity to improve QA processes.
- Room to expand automated test coverage and influence the product's quality practices.
