We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join an IoT product team on a part-time contract basis and take ownership of the quality assurance process across the release lifecycle.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced QA professional who combines strong manual testing expertise with practical automation skills in Playwright. You will be responsible for validating release candidates before production, maintaining the health of the existing automated test suites, improving QA processes, and ensuring consistent product quality across frequent releases.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, can work independently with minimal supervision, and already leverages AI tools as part of their daily QA workflow.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on manual testing of new features, integrations, and existing product functionality;
- Validate release candidates against business requirements before promotion to the staging environment;
- Own and coordinate the staging release process from a QA perspective;
- Execute, analyze, maintain, and improve existing Playwright end-to-end test suites;
- Investigate and resolve flaky automated tests while maintaining stable regression coverage;
- Extend automated tests where appropriate to improve product quality and release confidence;
- Identify quality risks early and proactively propose improvements to QA processes;
- Verify complex integrations with third-party systems;
- Collaborate closely with Node.js, React.js, and Python engineers throughout the development lifecycle;
- Work with modern web technologies including Next.js, React, and TypeScript;
- Use browser developer tools, application logs, and debugging techniques to investigate issues across multiple browsers, including Firefox and WebKit;
- Actively leverage AI tools (Claude, Claude Code, or similar) to improve testing efficiency and day-to-day QA activities;
- Communicate quality risks, testing results, and release readiness clearly to stakeholders;
- Work autonomously while taking full ownership of the QA process.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial experience in software testing;
- Strong hands-on experience in manual testing of modern web applications;
- Solid commercial experience with Playwright for end-to-end test automation;
- Experience maintaining and improving existing automation suites rather than only creating new ones;
- Strong understanding of regression testing, risk-based testing, release validation, and QA best practices;
- Experience working with modern JavaScript applications built with React and Next.js;
- Familiarity with TypeScript and the ability to investigate automated test failures;
- Experience working with unit and integration test suites;
- Experience testing products integrated with third-party services and APIs;
- Strong debugging skills using browser developer tools, application logs, and cross-browser testing;
- Experience working with CI/CD environments and automated release pipelines;
- Practical experience using AI tools within QA workflows;
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive QA activities independently;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
- Upper-Intermediate English or higher.
