Software Engineer
Sii Ukraine is a subsidiary of Sii Poland — the leader in IT, engineering, and consultancy services with over 7500 IT experts in Poland and more than 250 prestigious customers. We are looking for ambitious and top-quality professionals to join our project teams.
We are seeking a hands-on Healthcare Interoperability Software Engineer to implement customer integrations connecting dermatology imaging devices, on-premise software, and cloud platforms with hospital and clinical IT environments.
The role combines software development, healthcare interoperability, and customer-facing implementation. Working closely with Solution Architects and Project Management, translating agreed solution designs into reliable, tested, and operational integrations - from technical discovery through implementation, commissioning, and support handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate customer workflows and architecture specifications into interface designs, data mappings, implementation tasks, and acceptance criteria.
- Develop and configure interfaces for patient demographics, orders, worklists, imaging data, diagnostic results, and reports.
- Implement DICOM connectivity and DICOMweb interfaces where required, including integration with local and cloud-based PACS.
- Build HL7 v2 message processing and FHIR API integrations, including validation, transformation, routing, acknowledgements, and error handling.
- Apply relevant IHE profiles and transactions to agreed clinical workflows; support interoperability testing against customer requirements.
- Develop backend services, adapters, and APIs connecting imaging devices, local gateways, clinical applications, and AWS services.
- Implement reliable asynchronous processing, retries, duplicate prevention, audit logging, and recovery from connectivity interruptions.
- Collaborate directly with customer IT teams and integration vendors on interface configuration, connectivity, troubleshooting, and deployment.
- Execute end-to-end integration testing, support customer acceptance and go-live, and resolve technical issues through stabilization.
- Maintain interface specifications, deployment instructions, test evidence, and operational support documentation.
Required skills:
- Typically 5+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on delivery of healthcare integration projects.
- Proven implementation experience with DICOM, HL7 v2, and FHIR, with deep expertise in at least two and practical working knowledge of the third.
- Experience integrating with EHR/EMR and PACS systems, including clinical workflow analysis, patient and encounter identification, and reconciliation of inconsistent data.
- Practical understanding of IHE integration profiles, including how actors and transactions translate into implementation and testing requirements.
- Strong backend development skills: C#/.NET, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML, SQL databases, automated testing, Git, CI/CD, and containerized deployments.
- Hands-on AWS experience, particularly application integration, secure access, monitoring, and deployment; relevant services may include S3, IAM, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, SQS, and CloudWatch.
- Working knowledge of hybrid connectivity, TLS, certificates, VPNs, firewalls, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, and secure handling of patient data.
- Experience delivering customer projects in healthcare or another regulated software environment.
