About us
General Simulations is a Ukrainian Physical AI company building the autonomy layer for GPS-denied operations. Our platform, SimDeck, turns ordinary drone recon video into measurable 3D digital terrain twins — and the same twin becomes the synthetic environment we train edge navigation models in. Brave1 resident, NVIDIA Inception member.
The mission
Your metric is meters of autonomous driving. Your goal is to make a ground platform travel 300—500m autonomously on an unknown route after losing connection. You will use our aerial 3D twin as the map and a camera as the only sensor — deliberately without LiDAR.
You will build for two platforms on the same foundation, strictly in this order: ground vehicles first, aircraft second. The 3D twin, the simulator, and the policy loop are shared; the vehicle-specific layer comes after.
What you will do
- The Foundation: Stand up the navigation stack in Isaac Sim / Isaac Lab using our 3DGS scenes to extract collision meshes and costmaps. Build a reproducible scene → simulator → policy loop.
- Phase 1 (Ground): Implement camera odometry (cuVSLAM class), global planning (Hybrid-A*), and local control (MPPI) onto a Jetson Orin-powered UGV (10-25W class). Iterate in the field until we hit the 300—500m metric.
- Phase 2 (Air): Extend the same shared foundation to UAVs, implementing flight dynamics, 3D planning, and PX4/ArduPilot offboard control.
- Throughout: Conduct regular field tests, build the ground-truth capture protocol, and ensure strict dependency license hygiene (crucial for defense deployment).
Requirements
- ROS 2 in production, not in pet projects
- SLAM / VIO deployed on real hardware, not evaluated on datasets
- Isaac Sim, Gazebo or equivalent
- Hands-on understanding of costmaps, planners and control — not tutorial copy-paste
- Field experience. You know how things break outdoors
- Strong C++ and Python
- Enough hardware sense to deploy the stack yourself: Linux on embedded, Jetson bring-up, sensor wiring.
Ground or air background both work — formal seniority and a degree are optional. What you shipped and what survived contact with reality is what matters.
Nice to have
- Jetson, NVIDIA Isaac, TensorRT
- 3DGS / NeRF, gsplat, nerfstudio
- UGV or UAV hands-on — PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, DroneCAN
- GNSS-denied navigation, visual place recognition, sensor fusion
- Policy learning (RL / IL), sim-to-real
- Defense, aerospace or autonomous vehicle background
- Working fluently with terminal coding agents — most of our codebase was built that way, and we expect you to verify agent output against compiler, tests, sim and hardware
We offer
- 1–3% equity as founding engineer — 4-year vesting, 1-year cliff
- Zero bureaucracy: technical decisions in hours, not sprints
- Direct authorship of the architecture — the stack is not set in concrete
- Compensation discussed on the first call; state your expectation in your application
Reservation (бронювання)
We are obtaining critical-enterprise status through the state defence route. The funding already in process covers reservation for the entire team with room to spare — the constraint here is timing, not capacity. We will walk you through the exact status and expected dates on the first call.
Process
45-min intro → 1–2 week paid test task on a real backlog issue → technical sync → final conversation with both founders. NDA and Work-for-Hire before repository access.
