Software Engineer

Our client, a high-tech defense company at the forefront of innovation, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer.

This role is a unique opportunity to join a team working on projects of strategic importance for the country’s defense. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead projects end to end, make key technical decisions and build products that combine robust backend engineering with LLM-powered capabilities, including RAG, document processing and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Lead projects end to end: launch new initiatives, take ownership of existing systems and evolve them;
• Translate business needs into clear technical tasks, propose solutions, set priorities and evaluate trade-offs;
• Design scalable, secure and maintainable backend services, APIs, data models and integrations;
• Develop and extend LLM-powered features with attention to reliability, quality evaluation, cost and safety;
• Use AI coding agents as an integral part of daily work and help the team adopt these tools effectively;
• Deliver features across both backend and frontend (TypeScript, Node.js/NestJS, React, AWS);
• Lead technical discussions, conduct code reviews and mentor other engineers;
• Define engineering standards for testing, observability, security and documentation.

Skills Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record of building and launching production systems;
• Deep backend expertise: API design, data modeling, SQL/NoSQL databases, event-driven architecture and third-party integrations;
• Ability to design systems from scratch and evaluate trade-offs between scalability, reliability and security;
• Experience managing projects or technical streams and taking responsibility for outcomes;
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and explain technical decisions clearly;
• Hands-on experience with AI tools for development and a deep understanding of how LLMs work and their limitations;
• Practical experience with React and cloud services (AWS preferred);
• B2+ level of English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with NestJS, Python or Ruby (Rails);
• Hands-on experience with RAG, vector databases, embeddings, LLM evaluation, or the Claude API / Amazon Bedrock;
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture (SNS/SQS, serverless), Docker, EKS/ECS and CI/CD;
• Experience as a Tech Lead or mentor, ideally in a product or startup environment.
