Software Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Engineer to completely own the UI/UX quality of one of our core D2C subscription products. You are the final person responsible for every UI/UX decision that ships: you self-QA all new UI/UX work against a documented standard before it reaches the Managing Director, and you hold the quality bar for the whole product. Working AI-first, you will also take major features from brief to production: exploring design directions, arguing for the chosen one, building it in Next.js and Tailwind CSS, and shipping polished, mobile-first interfaces.
The work splits into three parts: full responsibility for all UI/UX on the project, hands-on development of design in code, and UI/UX supervision of team members. When another developer does the work, the quality is still yours: you guide them with concrete direction, review the result, and drive the task to the same standard as your own. Seniority here is measured by the quality and depth of your work. The bar is high and so is the upside — performance here is directly and significantly rewarded, and strong operators take on bigger scope fast.
Key Responsibilities
● UI/UX Quality Ownership: Own the UI/UX quality of the entire product. Every
interface decision that ships is your responsibility, and its standard is yours to
define and hold.
● UI/UX Supervision: Supervise team members’ UI/UX work: set direction,
review output, advise on solutions, and drive any task to done at your own
quality standard.
● Feature Design & Delivery: Own major visual features end to end: brief,
design exploration in multiple directions, written rationale, implementation,
and final polish.
● Design System & Consistency: Own the design system and its
documentation. Keep the product visually and behaviourally consistent across every screen, device, and locale. Document the reasoning behind key decisions: the user need, the pattern or research behind it, and the alternatives considered.
● AI-Native Design Workflow: Work AI-first: run a disciplined AI workflow from generation to production quality, own the team’s shared prompting assets, judge critically when output is ready to ship, and keep the team’s tooling ahead of the market.
Qualifications
Must-Have Experience
● Quality Ownership: Experience as the final quality owner for a product’s
UI/UX, with sign-off responsibility for what ships.
● AI-Native Workflow: Hands-on production experience with AI design and code tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or close equivalents) as the core of your daily workflow, including advanced prompting, and current knowledge of the AI-era UI/UX landscape.
● Portfolio: Shipped, live consumer web products with visible craft in the details. Depth of work matters more to us than years of experience.
● Front-End Fundamentals: React/Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript — enough to implement and refine your own designs in production code.
● Design Systems: Experience building or maintaining a design system.
● Supervision: Experience guiding other developers’ UI/UX work and driving it
to shipped quality.
Leadership Attributes
● Holds a high bar for visual detail — in their own work and the team’s — and catches issues before anyone else does
● Keeps growing — constantly learns and adopts new tools and techniques
● Ambitious — driven to build large-scale products used and seen by millions
● Explains design decisions clearly and in writing, grounded in user needs,
patterns, or data
● Communicates clearly and proactively in a fully remote, async environment
