Software Engineer

We are looking for a Compliance Safety Engineer to lead a gap assessment and compliance program across hardware, firmware and app, against the applicable machinery-safety and radio-equipment standards and to drive the product to a certifiable, market-ready state. Our product is a cableless, app-controlled hydraulic pump leveling system for camper vehicles that automatically stabilizes the vehicle via hydraulic jacks/pumps.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a gap analysis of the current hardware, firmware and app architecture against:
  IEC 62745 — Safety of machinery: requirements for cableless control systems of machinery
  ISO 13849 — Safety of machinery — Safety-related parts of control systems.
• Treated as the primary/highest-priority standard, since it governs the safety architecture across hardware and logic.
• EN 18031 — Common security requirements for internet-/network-connected radio equipment.
• Define and validate the required Performance Level via risk assessment for all safety functions (e.g., emergency stop, unintended motion prevention, loss-of-communication behavior, overload/tilt protection).
• Produce a structured compliance gap report covering hardware, firmware, and app, with prioritized remediation actions.
• Own and coordinate the documentation needed for conformity assessment (risk assessment records, validation plan and results, architecture justification, test evidence).
• Work directly with hardware, firmware and app developers to close identified gaps.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience with ISO 13849-1 (Performance Level determination, category architecture, validation).
• Familiarity with IEC 62745 and EN 18031.
• Ability to assess cross-domain systems (hardware + embedded firmware + mobile app) as one integrated safety/security architecture.
• Experience preparing documentation for CE marking / conformity assessment technical files.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with hydraulic systems or mobile machinery leveling/stabilization systems.
