Systems Engineer
We are seeking a skilled System Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, networking, Linux, and Windows. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in high-availability production environments and is capable of independently driving infrastructure projects, communicating directly with customers, and delivering technical solutions from design through implementation.
Our infrastructure is actively transitioning from VMware vSphere to Proxmox VE, therefore strong hands-on experience with Proxmox is required, while VMware knowledge remains valuable for migration and legacy support.
Knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements and familiarity with the ITIL framework are strongly desired.
This is a hands-on role for a seasoned engineer who will help ensure the stability, performance, and security of our systems while meeting PCI-DSS standards and collaborating closely with our Platform / DevOps team.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Proxmox VE administration in production environments.
- Good knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi (migration experience is highly desirable).
- Extensive Windows Server administration: Active Directory, IIS, WSUS, Domain Controllers
- Extensive Linux administration: Docker, Postfix, Syslog-ng
- Strong networking knowledge including: routing & switching, VLANs, VPN, TCP/IP, firewalls, network segmentation.
- Basic experience with SonicWall firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, WAF, SSL/TLS, Zero Trust).
- Strong understanding of SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management.
- Experience with Veeam Backup.
- Working knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements and compliance practices.
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex production environments.
- Ability to deliver infrastructure projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure production environments.
- Experience working directly with customers and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
Core Infrastructure
- Design, implement, and maintain Proxmox VE virtualization infrastructure.
- Support and migrate existing VMware vSphere/ESXi environments to Proxmox.
- Manage and optimize SAN storage systems for high availability and performance.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
- Configure and administer SonicWall firewalls and VPN infrastructure.
- Administer Windows (Active Directory, IIS, WSUS, Domain Controller) and Linux servers (Docker, Postfix, MySQL, Syslog-ng).
- Manage Cloudflare services, including DNS, CDN, WAF, SSL/TLS, Zero Trust, and traffic protection.
- Deploy, renew, troubleshoot, and maintain SSL/TLS certificates across infrastructure and applications.
- Perform capacity planning and ensure infrastructure scalability.
- Implement and maintain PCI-DSS compliance and security controls.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation.
Platform Collaboration
- Support the infrastructure layer beneath Kubernetes / Rancher workloads.
- Assist with infrastructure-facing CI/CD using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
- Support observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/Graylog).
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible).
- Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Technical Leadership
- Independently own infrastructure projects from planning through production rollout.
- Analyze customer requirements and propose technical solutions.
- Communicate directly with customers during discovery, implementation, and support phases.
- Coordinate technical activities with internal engineering teams.
- Participate in architecture discussions and infrastructure improvements.
