Automation QA Engineer

About the client:

A US-based educational platform offering courses in finance and financial modeling. The team is scaling automated coverage across its LMS, including legacy functionality and complex end-to-end user flows.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain automated UI and API tests with Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Evolve the existing automation architecture: shared utilities, test organization, readability, and reuse
• Expand coverage for legacy functionality and complex end-to-end flows across the LMS
• Run automated tests in CI/CD pipelines, analyze results, and investigate failures to root cause
• Improve test stability, eliminate flaky tests, and reduce execution time
• Manage test data and keep tests independent and reproducible
• Prioritize scenarios for automation together with manual QA engineers and developers
• Take part in code reviews and propose improvements to automation practices and tooling
• Discuss tasks, priorities, coverage, and risks directly with the US client in English

Requirements:

• 5+ years of commercial experience in web test automation
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and hands-on Playwright experience
• Experience maintaining and evolving an existing automation codebase, including its architecture, shared utilities, and test organization
• Solid grasp of reliable E2E practices: locators, waits, test isolation, fixtures, mocks, test data management
• REST API test automation, with a working understanding of HTTP and client-server architecture
• Git, code reviews, and running automated tests in CI/CD as part of daily work
• Ability to investigate failures through logs, reports, and traces, and tell a product defect from a test or environment issue
• Ownership of your own scope: you plan your work, take tasks to completion, and raise risks and blockers early
• At least Intermediate English proficiency both spoken and written

Nice to Have:

• Hands-on use of AI in engineering work: accelerating test creation and refactoring, analyzing failures, preparing test data or documentation. We are interested in concrete examples: what problem you solved, how you validated the results, and what impact it had
• Experience with LMS, EdTech, or FinTech products
