Automation QA Engineer

We're looking for a Junior QA Automation Engineer to join our QA team and help ensure the quality of global e-commerce products.

You'll work with an established Java and Playwright automation framework, write UI and API tests, and investigate failures. We value solid fundamentals, curiosity, clear communication, and the ability to explain the code you submit.

You don't need experience with every tool in our stack. We're looking for a strong foundation and the motivation to grow through practical work and feedback.

What you will be doing

• Develop and maintain automated UI tests using Java and Playwright.
• Write API tests (REST and GraphQL) using RestAssured and validate data using SQL.
• Maintain Page Objects, reusable components, and test data following existing framework conventions.
• Analyze requirements and identify test scenarios, edge cases, and suitable candidates for automation.
• Investigate test failures using Allure reports, Playwright traces, logs and database queries.
• Perform manual checks when needed to understand features and verify issues.
• Run automated tests locally and in CI, and help keep the test suite reliable.
• Participate in code reviews and improve your work through feedback.

What we are looking for

• Practical experience writing automated tests in Java, gained through commercial work, an internship, or personal projects.
• Java fundamentals: OOP, collections, and exceptions.
• Hands-on experience with a UI automation tool such as Playwright, Selenium, or Selenide.
• Familiarity with a test framework such as TestNG or JUnit, and with the Page Object pattern.
• Web and HTTP fundamentals: DOM, CSS selectors, HTTP methods, status codes, JSON, and cookies.
• Knowledge of testing fundamentals, test design techniques, and clear bug reporting.
• Basic SQL (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN) and everyday Git usage.
• Intermediate (B1) or higher English for discussing tasks and issues with international colleagues.

Nice to have

• Experience with Playwright for Java and TestNG.
• API automation with RestAssured; basic understanding of GraphQL.
• Familiarity with Gradle, Allure reports, and CI pipelines.
• Experience testing e-commerce flows such as checkout, payments, promotions, or subscriptions.
• Basic knowledge of Docker or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Java generics and the Stream API.

Working with AI

Our team actively uses AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code and Cursor) to explore unfamiliar code, generate test ideas, support investigations, and write and improve automated tests. We'll help you learn to use them effectively.

What matters to us is how you use them: critically reviewing AI-generated suggestions, validating the results, and fully understanding any code you submit.
