> full description
The product centralizes and standardizes the real estate offer and negotiation process for agents, buyers, and sellers — replacing email and paper with automated status notifications, term negotiation, contract generation, and e-signing. The product also aggregates offer-level data to surface market insights (loan program performance, offer term strategies, listing strategies, multi-offer round structures). This role sits at the intersection of transactional backend work and data-driven product features.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for the platform using Django/DRF
- Model and maintain relational data for offers, negotiations, contracts, and participant roles (agents, buyers, sellers)
- Build and maintain REST APIs powering web and notification workflows (status updates, term negotiation, contract generation triggers)
- Work with PostgreSQL (via psycopg2) for data storage and reporting queries supporting aggregate offer analytics
- Implement business logic for multi-party negotiation flows and status/notification automation
- Collaborate with the backend team of a related product on shared e-signing and document generation flows
- Write tests, participate in code review, support deployment and monitoring
Required skills
- 5+ years of commercial backend development experience
- Strong Python and Django, with solid Django REST Framework (DRF) experience
- PostgreSQL, psycopg2, comfortable writing and optimizing SQL
- Experience designing relational schemas for multi-party, stateful workflows (e.g. negotiations, approvals, transactions)
- REST API design and integration experience
- Git-based workflow, CI/CD familiarity
- Comfortable working independently in a small, fast-moving product team
Nice to have
- Experience with proptech, fintech, or marketplace/negotiation-style products
- Experience with data aggregation/analytics features (reporting, dashboards, or BI-adjacent backend work)
- Familiarity with notification systems (email/SMS/push) and automated status workflows
- Prior experience integrating with or alongside a C#/.NET backend (cross-product integration)
- Exposure to US real estate transaction processes (useful for domain context, not mandatory)
