Backend Engineer
Come Back Agency supports US software and technology companies by running their hiring process. We work with delivery and leadership teams to define roles, screen candidates, and manage interviews. Successful candidates are hired directly by the company and become part of its team.
This position is with a US-based software company providing custom development and AI implementation for North American clients. The team builds and maintains production software, including AI-enabled systems, and works in long-term client engagements. Team members operate as part of an internal, distributed team and collaborate directly with client stakeholders.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain backend services on Node.js (NestJS, TypeScript)
- Design and build REST APIs working with PostgreSQL and Prisma
- Implement business logic and integrations with third-party services
- Build authentication and authorization flows
- Improve performance and stability of production systems
- Investigate and fix production issues
- Take part in code reviews and technical discussions
- Communicate directly with US-based clients on technical calls
What we are looking for
- 2+ years of commercial backend experience with Node.js
- In-depth NestJS experience on real commercial projects: modules, guards, interceptors, pipes
- Strong TypeScript skills
- Solid approach to validation and DTOs
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Prisma
- Practical experience with AWS services
- Docker in day-to-day development
- Redis (caching, queues, sessions, or similar use cases)
- Experience with Node.js Streams
- Good understanding of OOP principles
- Confident use of Git
- Experience using Claude Code or readiness to use it as part of your daily workflow
- Ability to work independently and argue for your technical decisions
- English B2+ for confident spoken communication with US clients
- Full-time availability 16:00–00:00 Kyiv time
Important: NestJS experience limited to tutorials, courses, or pet projects is not sufficient for this role. We are looking for commercial backend experience; frontend-only profiles will not be considered. Full-stack developers are welcome if most of their practical experience is on the backend.
