Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Middle+ Magento Developer to work on headless e-commerce projects built on Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce. Most of the work is back-end: GraphQL APIs, custom modules, integrations and performance. The rest is front-end work, so experience with or interest in React or Vue is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce modules
• Design and extend GraphQL APIs: schemas, resolvers, query caching
• Work in a headless architecture, connecting the back-end with front-end apps (PWA Studio, Vue Storefront, Next.js, etc.)
• Build integrations with third-party systems: ERP, PIM, payment and shipping providers
• Analyze and optimize performance: database queries, indexing, caching, profiling
• Take part in code reviews and architecture discussions
• Occasionally pick up front-end tasks in React or Vue

Requirements

• 3+ years of commercial experience with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce
• Hands-on experience with Magento GraphQL: building custom schemas and resolvers, extending core queries, solving performance issues
• Experience on headless projects
• Strong knowledge of PHP 8.x, OOP, SOLID principles and design patterns
• Solid understanding of Magento architecture: DI, plugins, observers, service contracts, EAV, indexers
• Understanding of performance optimization: full page cache, GraphQL caching, SQL query and index optimization, profiling (Blackfire, New Relic or similar)
• Confident with MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
• Experience with Git, Composer, Docker
• English at B1+ level

Nice to have

• Adobe Commerce certification (Developer, Professional or Expert)
• Experience with Adobe Commerce Cloud: deployments, environment setup, ece-tools
• Experience configuring and debugging Fastly or Varnish
• Experience with React or Vue, and willingness to take on front-end tasks
• Experience with PWA Studio, Vue Storefront, Hyvä or other storefront solutions
