Backend Engineer

The project is a distributed payment orchestration platform for the fuel retail industry.

The platform acts as a mediator between fuel retailers, payment providers, and external partners, orchestrating the complete fueling and payment lifecycle while serving as a Merchant of Record. It integrates with multiple payment providers, fuel station controllers, fleet card providers, loyalty systems, and third-party services.

Built on a distributed event-driven microservices architecture, the platform processes high-volume payment transactions with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and performance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of commercial Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java 17.
• Solid experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Experience building microservice-based applications.
• Experience with MySQL (AuroraDB is a plus).
• Experience with RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Upper-Intermediate or higher level of English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java microservices.
• Build integrations with payment providers and external partners.
• Develop asynchronous event-driven workflows using RabbitMQ.
• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs.
• Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA Engineers, and DevOps throughout the software development lifecycle.
