Hello and good vibes to everyone reading this!

We’re currently looking for a Middle+ Java Developer to join our team in a full-time collaboration format.

About us:
Mind Studios specializes in mobile and web app development, helping businesses unlock their potential and turn ideas into profitable products.
Our key domains include: Real Estate, Logistics, Healthcare, Fitness, and Mental Health.

We are looking for a person on a certain e-government project. Roughly we assume that the contract can last from September 2026 till the end of March 2027 with optional prolongation.

About the Project:
The project is a large-scale digital platform from scratch designed to support the administration of various social benefits Western European country through a modular and scalable architecture. The system is structured around two key layers:
— Horizontal functions – these are shared core services used across all benefits (e.g., application review, eligibility checks, document management, communication, payment processing, appeals).
— Vertical functions – these represent individual benefit flows, each with its own set of rules, data requirements, and validation logic.

At the heart of the project is the User Profile, which serves as a central data repository. It collects and stores key personal and household information in a reusable way, allowing different benefit applications to retrieve data without asking the user to re-enter the same information.

In this role, you will need:
— clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to convey ideas, information, and messages accurately and efficiently;
— experience in managing diverse project activities (not just coding, but also requirements analysis, preparing estimations);
— ability to analyze information, assess situations, and make decisions based on sound reasoning and logical evaluation;
— analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and strategic approach to technical challenges.

What is important to join us:
Must-have requirements
— advanced English, both spoken and written. The developer must communicate confidently with native English-speaking colleagues, participate actively in meetings, clarify requirements, explain technical decisions, and write clear PR descriptions and documentation;
— experience with Java, including modern Java features; the project currently uses Java 21;
— strong commercial experience with Spring Boot, Spring Web/MVC, Spring Data JPA, and Hibernate;
— solid understanding of:

  • transactions and entity lifecycle;
  • database constraints and data integrity;
  • concurrency and idempotency;
  • date/time handling;
  • validation and error handling.

— strong SQL and relational-database skills. The candidate must be able to investigate existing data, diagnose duplicates and inconsistent states, and design safe schema or query changes;
— experience maintaining and debugging a large existing codebase or multi-module system, including tracing behaviour across services and shared libraries;
— ability to understand complicated business rules and translate incomplete or changing requirements into predictable implementation;
— strong REST API design and integration experience, including request/response contracts, backward compatibility, and OpenAPI;
— experience writing meaningful unit and integration tests with JUnit and Mockito. Regression tests should accompany bug fixes;
— good Git and pull-request practices: focused changes, readable commits, careful reviews, and constructive technical discussion;
— demonstrated ownership: independently reproducing problems, finding root causes, considering edge cases, and communicating risks before implementation;
— willingness to question ambiguous requirements instead of silently making assumptions;
— ability to work effectively in a distributed, highly communicative team.

Nice-to-have requirements:
— commercial experience with Oracle Database and Oracle-specific SQL behaviour;
— experience with Flyway database migrations;
— experience with Kafka or another event-driven messaging platform;
— knowledge of Spring Security, OAuth2/JWT, and Keycloak;
— experience with Camunda/Zeebe or BPMN-based workflows;
— experience with caching, particularly Caffeine;
— familiarity with Azure DevOps, Maven multi-module builds, Sonar, PMD, Checkstyle, and dependency/security upgrades;
— knowledge of audit logging, personal-data protection, and security-sensitive applications.
