About the project:
The project focuses on building the payments infrastructure that merchants have been waiting for. It is designed to deliver a single integration, intelligent routing, and the kind of reliability that lets businesses stop thinking about payments and get back to running their operations. This is an active platform serving real merchants and tackling difficult, complex problems.
At its core, the project involves integrating multiple payment providers and intelligently routing transactions across them, all while ensuring the system remains highly secure, scalable, and maintainable. Because the details matter most in the payments space, the project demands a rigorous standard of engineering. The backend architecture acts as the “engine room” of the entire platform, driving these critical financial operations and maintaining system integrity.
Requirements:
● 4+ Years of Backend Experience: Proven track record of shipping production-grade backend systems and handling the operational realities that come with them.
● Deep Node.js & TypeScript Mastery: Exhaustive knowledge of the language ecosystem, including async patterns, event-driven architecture, and performance trade-offs.
● Distributed Systems & APIs: Hands-on experience building high-volume APIs and managing complex, third-party integrations.
● Production PostgreSQL: Strong competence in schema design, query optimization, indexing, transactions, and caching strategies.
● Microservices in Practice: Practical understanding of microservices architecture, including defining clean service boundaries and managing asynchronous communication.
● Architecture & Patterns: Ability to contribute to architectural decisions and implement clean adapter patterns to keep expanding integrations maintainable.
● Financial Precision & Correctness: A deep understanding of failure modes, consistent error handling, and critical distributed systems concepts like idempotency.
● Rigorous Testing: A strict approach to validation, utilizing unit tests, integration tests, and E2E tests effectively to ensure production stability.
● Observability & Support: Experience leveraging observability tooling to monitor, trace, and debug production issues independently, alongside a commitment to system maintenance and on-call support.
● Startup Agility: Comfortable operating effectively in a startup environment without perfect processes or complete documentation; a proactive attitude toward filling gaps.
● Finisher’s Mindset: Dedication to seeing features completely through to production, where “done” means fully working, observable, and documented.
● Strong Team Contributor: Active engagement in code reviews to elevate the collective codebase bar, and honest participation in Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retros).
● Communication: Upper-Intermediate English or higher, with clear and structured communication skills across both real-time and asynchronous distributed teams.
● Cloud Solutions: Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, with a solid understanding or direct expertise in common AWS services being a strong plus.
