Product company SpaceWhale is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team and take ownership of our AWS platform, Infrastructure as Code and delivery pipelines.

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of overall experience in DevOps / SRE / Cloud Engineering, including ownership of production infrastructure
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on AWS experience in production (EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, CloudWatch) with a security-first mindset: secrets management (KMS), IAM, network policies, container image scanning and vulnerability remediation
  • Containerization is a must: Docker, multi-stage builds, image hardening and optimization, private container registries
  • Kubernetes is a must: production experience with EKS or self-managed clusters — cluster design and upgrades, networking (Ingress, service mesh), autoscaling (HPA/Karpenter), RBAC and security hardening, Helm-based deployments
  • Strong practical experience with OpenTofu or Terraform, with a “build once — reuse many times” mindset: designing and owning a versioned library of reusable modules, enforcing standards and conventions across environments, state management (remote backends, locking), workspaces, provider versioning, drift detection
  • Infrastructure as Code for the full stack (Terraform/OpenTofu + Helm charts)
  • Design, standardization and ownership of CI/CD platforms serving multiple teams: shared pipeline templates and reusable jobs built once and reused across all services (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar)
  • Observability at scale: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/ELK, distributed tracing (Tempo/Jaeger), alerting
  • Experience with high-availability, disaster recovery and incident management (on-call, RCA / post-mortems)

Nice-to-have:

  • Terragrunt for multi-account / multi-environment Terraform orchestration (DRY configs, dependency management)
  • GitOps workflows and tooling (ArgoCD, Flux or similar)
  • AWS Organizations and multi-account IAM strategy
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, Boards) as a CI/CD and work-management platform
  • Experience supporting .NET, Node.js or PHP applications: building and containerizing services, application CI/CD pipelines, runtime tuning and diagnostics
  • Hands-on experience with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, DORA) and audit support
  • FinOps / cloud cost optimization at company level
  • Database operations (PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL, Redis) — replication, backups, performance tuning

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the architecture and roadmap of the AWS and Kubernetes platform; help define standards for infrastructure, deployment and security
  • Design, build and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and developer self-service tooling across engineering teams
  • Own the OpenTofu/Terraform codebase: module library, state strategy, environment layout (Terragrunt), plan/apply pipelines and review process
  • Design and operate AWS infrastructure (networking, EKS, IAM, data stores) following the Well-Architected Framework
  • Ensure reliability, scalability and performance of production systems; define capacity plans and DR strategy
  • Drive observability: monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting and on-call processes
  • Lead incident response, root-cause analysis and post-mortems; implement preventive measures
  • Partner with the Security (CISO) team on compliance, hardening, vulnerability management and certification processes (ISO, SOC 2, DORA)
  • Optimize cloud spend and drive FinOps practices
  • Collaborate closely with development, QA and product teams; evaluate and introduce new technologies

Working conditions:

  • Possibility to work full-time remotely;
  • Opportunities for professional development and personal growth;
  • Medical insurance, English classes;
  • Competitive salary, reasonable and fair working conditions, flexible schedule;
  • Team of strong IT professionals working in a vibrant product environment;
  • Centrally located office near a metro station with a great view.
