WE ARE
StartupSoft connects top Ukrainian engineers with world-class startups from Silicon Valley and EU. Our developers work directly on the product as an integral part of the startup team.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project is a digital financial services platform designed to support secure and efficient transactions for individuals and businesses. The platform provides solutions that simplify financial operations and improve everyday digital experiences. It integrates with various external systems and organizations to streamline processes, enhance usability, and maintain high standards of security, privacy, and reliability.
STAGE
Live product
STACK ON THE PROJECT
Terraform, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), GitHub Actions, Jenkins
TEAM
Mostly located in Canada
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevSecOps, SRE, Cloud Operations, or a similar role supporting business-critical distributed systems.
- Deep practical expertise in AWS or Azure, with working knowledge of the other cloud platform, including cloud architecture, infrastructure provisioning, migration readiness, troubleshooting, and platform validation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, including Infrastructure as Code, reusable modules, automated provisioning, configuration management, compliance validation, and change tracking.
- Production experience with Kubernetes (EKS or AKS), including cluster configuration, management, troubleshooting, and working knowledge of the alternative managed Kubernetes service.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, Java or comparable application stacks, APIs, microservices, containers, databases, messaging systems, configuration, performance, and distributed dependencies.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions and Jenkins, including reusable CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, environment promotion, automated validation, rollback, release reliability, and developer self-service workflows.
- Experience with Splunk and Dynatrace for enterprise monitoring and observability, along with working knowledge of Azure Monitor and AWS CloudWatch.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent scripting/programming languages, including version control and reusable code practices.
- Understanding of engineering change controls, release management, disaster recovery, vulnerability remediation, security compliance, and governance in regulated cloud environments.
- Knowledge of AWS and Azure cost optimization and governance, including resource utilization, rightsizing, cost allocation, tagging, reservations and savings plans, storage optimization, budgets, alerts, and reporting.
- Ability to investigate complex infrastructure and runtime issues, identify root causes, assess risks, implement controlled fixes, validate recovery, and collaborate with Development, Security, AppOps, Release Management, and Platform Engineering teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical documentation practices, and experience collaborating across time zones in distributed teams.
- Upper-Intermediate (B2+) English or higher.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting payment systems, financial services, or other high-volume, high-availability platforms.
- Knowledge of database operations, distributed tracing, resilience testing, and automated recovery.
- Experience building reusable operational libraries, self-service infrastructure solutions, inner-source components, or self-healing mechanisms across multiple products.
- Additional experience with Dynatrace, including telemetry validation, alerting, dashboards, reporting, and operational monitoring evidence.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules, Infrastructure as Code patterns, and infrastructure standards across AWS and Azure environments.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, compliance validation, and change tracking using Terraform and version control.
- Provision, maintain, and standardize development, testing, staging, and production environments, including configuration baselines, dependencies, naming conventions, and tagging standards.
- Identify and resolve infrastructure configuration drift, provisioning issues, and environment inconsistencies.
- Ensure infrastructure and platform readiness for deployments, migrations, and production onboarding across AWS and Azure.
- Support Kubernetes infrastructure (EKS/AKS), including cluster upgrades, runtime configuration, scaling, ingress, troubleshooting, recovery, and operational readiness.
- Develop and improve CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions and Jenkins, including deployment workflows, validation, and rollback procedures.
- Support cloud migration from Azure to AWS, including infrastructure provisioning, dependency validation, runtime readiness, cutover activities, post-migration stabilization, and controlled Azure decommissioning.
- Support infrastructure security and hardening, vulnerability remediation, compliance controls, and collaboration with security teams.
- Support monitoring and observability integrations, telemetry configuration, and infrastructure automation related to Terraform and CI/CD.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing, resilience validation, infrastructure recovery, and operational continuity activities.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, runbooks, configuration standards, recovery procedures, and knowledge-sharing practices to ensure reliable backup coverage.
- Identify opportunities to optimize AWS and Azure infrastructure costs, including resource utilization, rightsizing, tagging, storage optimization, reservations, savings plans, and cost reporting.
- Collaborate with Development, Platform Engineering, Security, AppOps, Release Management, and other teams to improve infrastructure reliability, consistency, security, and operational efficiency.
