We are looking for a Middle DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will build and run client infrastructure on GCP: writing Terraform, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, operating workloads on GKE, and keeping production environments secure and observable.
You will own well-defined tasks from ticket to production and day-to-day with development teams. Senior engineers lead architecture decisions and mentor you, so the role is a good step toward the Senior level.
What You Will Do
- Provision, configure, and maintain GCP infrastructure (compute, networking, storage, databases) with a focus on reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Write and maintain Terraform code using the team’s modules and standards and propose improvements to shared modules through code review.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI/CD and Cloud Build, and GitOps deployments with Argo CD.
- Deploy and operate containerized workloads on GKE: manifests and Helm charts, scaling, upgrades, and troubleshooting of pods and services.
- Automate routine operational tasks with Python and Bash.
- Administer Linux servers (primary) and Windows Server (secondary) in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Apply security best practices: least-privilege IAM, Kubernetes RBAC, secrets management, encryption, and timely vulnerability remediation.
- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting with Google Cloud Observability (Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging, formerly Stackdriver), Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Take part in incident response: troubleshoot production issues, restore service, and contribute to root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
- Keep documentation, runbooks, and change records up to date so the whole team can support what you build.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud, or systems engineering, including at least 1 year with GCP in production.
- Hands-on experience with core GCP services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM, and VPC.
- Practical Terraform experience: writing and reusing modules, managing remote state, and planning and applying changes safely.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD preferred) and working with Git-based workflows: branching, merge requests, and code review.
- Working experience with Docker and Kubernetes: deploying, updating, and troubleshooting workloads.
- Solid Linux administration skills and basic Windows Server administration.
- Scripting in Python and Bash for automation.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPN.
- Understanding of cloud security fundamentals and identity and access management.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
- Upper-Intermediate (B2) English or higher, spoken and written.
Nice to Have
- Google Cloud certification, e.g. Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
- Experience with Argo CD / GitOps and Helm or Kustomize.
- PowerShell scripting.
- Exposure to AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices (image scanning, policy as code) and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or PCI DSS.
- Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Experience in a managed services or ITIL-based support model (incident, change and problem management).
What Success Looks Like in the First 6 Months
- You deliver infrastructure and pipeline changes on at least one client project on your own, from ticket to production.
- Your Terraform and pipeline changes follow team standards and pass code review with little rework.
- You resolve routine incidents independently and escalate complex ones with clear diagnostics.
