We are looking for a hands-on UAV Systems Integration Engineer to build and validate a reference hardware platform for an autonomous drone system.

You will work with commercially available FPV drone platforms, flight controllers, companion computers, and communication hardware to assemble a working prototype and integrate it with our autonomy software.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and configure a reference UAV hardware platform using existing components.
  • Integrate flight controllers, companion computers such as NVIDIA Jetson, cameras, IMUs, and other required peripherals.
  • Configure and troubleshoot autopilots such as PX4 or ArduPilot.
  • Establish and validate interfaces between the flight controller, companion computer, and communication equipment.
  • Work with vendor-provided fiber-optic communication hardware and integrate it into the platform.
  • Configure Linux environments and support integration with ROS 2-based software.
  • Diagnose hardware, power, connectivity, timing, and communication issues.
  • Document hardware configurations, wiring, interfaces, and setup procedures.
  • Run bench tests and controlled system validation, producing a repeatable setup for software development.

Required experience

  • Hands-on experience assembling and integrating real UAVs or robotic platforms.
  • Practical experience with PX4 or ArduPilot.
  • Experience integrating companion computers with flight controllers.
  • Familiarity with Linux, serial interfaces, USB, Ethernet, and hardware debugging.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems across hardware, firmware, and software interfaces.
  • Experience taking a prototype from individual components to a working, documented system.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded computing platforms.
  • Familiarity with ROS 2, MAVLink, and QGroundControl.
  • Experience with FPV platforms and high-bandwidth communication systems.
  • Experience with fiber-optic communication equipment.
  • Basic Python or C++ skills for integration scripts and diagnostics.

What success looks like

You will deliver a documented, reproducible reference hardware platform that our software team can use to develop and validate mapping, localization, and autonomous mission execution.

Important: This is a hands-on hardware and systems integration role. We are not looking for a PCB designer or a firmware-only developer. The core requirement is practical experience integrating real UAV hardware and autopilots.
