Frontend Engineer

Direct Contract with the mid-size US Company (software and analytics products).

Overview: We are looking for a hands-on Middle Engineer. The team you would be joining is small, agile, and highly collaborative. The current engineering team includes engineers in the US and Ukraine.

Responsibilities:

• Implementation and deployment of software applications and components under the direction of their supervisor and in collaboration with other Software Developers.
• Ability to communicate clearly with management, developers and quality assurance; to estimate levels of effort and time to completion for software-related tasks.
• Maintenance of existing software, including data corrections, bug fixes, and configuration changes. This may occasionally include diagnosing problems in user workflow and identifying training needs.
• Quickly learn and adapt to AI-native development and testing approaches. This includes using AI coding assistants as a standard part of implementation, debugging, and test-writing; critically reviewing AI-generated output rather than accepting it at face value; and staying current as tools and team practices evolve, including through training sessions conducted by other developers.

Qualifications:

• High level of proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript
• Experience with Unix-like environments
• Very solid knowledge of HTTP
• Proficiency with GraphQL as a client-side data layer (Apollo Client) — the primary data-fetching pattern across every app in this repo
• Proficiency with data modeling with an RDBMS, a Key/Value store, or both
• Ability to design and develop individual components of systems or a single system
• Ability to work smoothly with users and teammates of varying skill levels
• Ability to mentor and guide the development of less-experienced developers
• Ability to work independently when necessary at the component or system level
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Comfort in a large Nx/Lerna/Yarn-workspaces monorepo
• Effective, critical use of AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot) — able to use them to accelerate implementation and investigation (tracing a bug across repos, drafting tests, scaffolding components), while independently verifying generated code against the actual codebase rather than trusting output at face value. Should be able to write a clear, scoped prompt and review an AI-assisted diff with the same rigor as a human-authored one.

Required Experience:

• Production experience with React (TypeScript, Vite, Apollo Client)
• Working proficiency with Node.js/TypeScript for library and service-utility code (build tooling, Jest testing, TS packages like encryption and sync utilities)

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Firebase — Hosting, Firestore (including security rules), Auth
• Familiarity with GCP service SDKs used for storage/secrets (Cloud Storage, Secret Manager)
• Familiarity with Redis

• 60-minute technical interview with CTO and Team Lead
