Frontend Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled Front End Developer with solid experience in React.js and modern frontend ecosystems. Your role will focus on building and maintaining scalable UI components, contributing to an open-source component library, and applying state management solutions (Redux/React Query) to deliver efficient and reliable software. You will be part of a passionate international team of 100+ professionals, working on the next generation of online education solutions powered by micro-frontends and React.js. Our projects are based on Open edX — the leading open-source MOOC platform with 55M+ learners worldwide (openedx.org).

Requirements

• 3+ years of JavaScript (ES6+) with strong understanding of async programming, closures, modules.

• 3+ years of HTML5/CSS3, including responsive layouts, accessibility (WCAG/ARIA), and cross-browser compatibility.

• 2+ years of React.js in production projects.

• Strong experience with Redux and/or React Query.

• Familiarity with React Router and modular/microfrontend architectures.

• Solid knowledge of testing frameworks: Jest, React Testing Library (Vitest/Playwright is a plus).

• Experience with Docker for local and team development.

• Proficiency with bundlers/build tools (Webpack, Vite, Gulp).

• Strong Git workflow knowledge (branching, PR reviews, CI integration).

• English level: Intermediate+ (spoken & written).

• Location: Ukraine.

• Willingness to take a polygraph test.

Nice to have

• Experience building or extending APIs (JS/TS, Python, Go).

• Experience with template engines (Mako, Django templates).

• Knowledge of Sass/SCSS and design systems (MUI, Paragon, Design Tokens).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).

• Contributions to open-source projects (especially Open edX).

• Any completed course on Open edX (edx.org, prometheus.org.ua).

Responsibilities

• Develop new frontend projects from scratch and maintain existing ones.

• Build and maintain interfaces and MFEs for the Open edX platform.

• Participate in code reviews and cross-reviews.

• Provide accurate estimations and deliver features on time.

• Write documentation for features and reusable components.

• Research, evaluate, and introduce new frontend tools and technologies.

• Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (backend, QA, PM, BA, designers).
