We are looking for a strong Mid to Senior Frontend Engineer (React/Next.js) to join a dedicated team on a business-critical migration project for a confidential Canadian e-commerce client. This is a fast-start engagement with an ASAP start date, as the client is already reviewing CVs.
Project The client is a Canadian e-commerce business specializing in custom apparel printing, currently migrating its storefront from AngularJS (1.x) to a modern React/Next.js stack.
Responsibilities
- Rebuild storefront pages in Next.js
- Support route-flip coexistence between legacy AngularJS and new React/Next.js routes during the migration
- Extract shared packages from the legacy codebase and build parity tests to validate migrated functionality
- Own the quality of AI-assisted migration work
- Resolve client QA findings within milestone scope
Requirements
Must-have:
- 3+ years of experience with React
- 2+ years of experience with Next.js (App Router, SSG/ISR, Middleware)
- At least one completed AngularJS (1.x) → React/Next.js migration — this is the client’s top selection criterion
- Strong AngularJS code-reading skills for legacy code analysis
- Production experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.)
- Solid TypeScript skills and experience with Jest or Vitest
- E-commerce frontend experience, including cart, checkout, and Stripe integration
- Upper-Intermediate (B2+) English for direct client communication
