Full Stack Engineer
ORIL is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join an engineering team building a configurable SaaS platform that runs self-storage businesses. The client is scaling fast, moving from a single live site to dozens of locations and portfolios in the near future. In this role, you will be embedded in the client’s team, working autonomously on their roadmap with a strong focus on AI-first development and functional TypeScript using the Effect framework.
About the project
A next-generation PropTech SaaS platform designed for self-storage operators. It streamlines core property management, manages complex billing/payment workflows, connects third-party services and hardware, and provides real-time analytics and AI-driven workflow builders. The architecture relies heavily on modern TypeScript, Effect, relational databases, and an AI-assisted engineering methodology.
What will you do?
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for core property management workflows as well as public/partner APIs and third-party integrations.
- Leverage AI coding tools and agents in daily work to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality through rigorous code review and testing.
- Write clean, type-safe, and resilient code using TypeScript and Effect (Layers, Schema, typed errors).
- Build and maintain third-party integrations (REST APIs, webhooks, event notifications, auth mechanisms).
- Develop supporting UI components in React / React Router (v7) or Remix (roughly 70% backend / 30% frontend split).
- Drive testing discipline (unit, integration tests, Testcontainers) and assist in refining Effect architectural patterns across the codebase.
What are we looking for?
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience in production SaaS environments.
- Backend-heavy full-stack background with strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js (experience with Bun is a plus).
- Daily, proven experience with AI coding tools and agents, with strong judgment in reviewing generated code.
- Practical experience with typed functional programming or Effect framework (hands-on Effect experience is a major plus; fp-ts, ZIO, Scala, or similar are acceptable with quick ramp-up).
- Strong experience building third-party integrations, handling webhooks, OAuth2/JWT, and API security.
- Solid proficiency in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORMs (Prisma).
- Production experience with React / React Router (v7) / Remix for building settings, connection, and operational screens.
- High autonomy, strong problem-solving skills, and ownership over data quality and system reliability.
- English: Upper-Intermediate+ for direct daily communication with the client.
Nice to have:
- Direct production experience with Effect (Layers, Schema, services, typed errors).
- Experience with IoT/access-control device APIs, messaging platforms, or event-driven systems (Twilio, SendGrid, Ably).
- Background in Property Management, ERP, or operational SaaS platforms.
