Automation Engineer / PLC & Controls Engineer

Location: Europe
Work format: Project-based / On-site / Hybrid, depending on location

About the Role

We are looking for an Automation Engineer / PLC & Controls Engineer with experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, HVAC controls, electrical automation or related engineering fields.

Previous BMS experience is NOT required.

We are interested in engineers who already understand automation systems, can program controllers, integrate equipment and perform commissioning.

We will provide the necessary technical training to help you transition into Building Management Systems (BMS).

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and configure PLCs and automation controllers.
  • Develop control algorithms for engineering equipment.
  • Configure communication between controllers, sensors, actuators and other devices.
  • Integrate HVAC, electrical and other engineering systems.
  • Participate in the implementation and commissioning of automation projects.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and communication issues.
  • Read electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Support equipment selection and system configuration.
  • Work with engineering teams, equipment manufacturers and installation contractors.
  • Learn BMS architecture, specialized communication protocols and building automation software.

Requirements

  • Practical experience in at least one of the following fields:
    • Industrial automation and PLC programming.
    • SCADA and industrial control systems.
    • HVAC automation and control.
    • Electrical engineering and control systems.
    • Process automation or equipment integration.
  • Ability to program or configure industrial controllers.
  • Understanding of sensors, actuators, control logic and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with equipment integration, troubleshooting or commissioning.
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and documentation.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and develop expertise in building automation.
  • English: B1 or higher.

An advantage, but not required:

  • Experience with Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, Beckhoff or similar automation platforms.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, BACnet or industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience with commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities or energy management systems.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC operating principles.
